The La liga table looks unusually tight on the closing days as three big teams stand neck and neck to each other. Barcelona, Real Madrid and Athletico Madrid have their eye on the title and surprisingly, it is anyone’s trophy still.
With just two games to play, Barcelona and Athletico Madrid have equal points though Barca sits on top with superior goal difference. And Real Madrid is not too far behind with just a point less than the first two.
In this scenario, all three teams will try and do anything to win both the games they have in hand and then fancy their chances. Barcelona will play against a Espanyol which lies deep in the table. Barca shouldn’t have any jitters in winning this one in spite of their relatively poor in La Liga which got them into this position.
Athletico Madrid will play an already relegated Levante. Should be an easy three points for Simone’s men. If they fail in this game, then no one can help them. A win this weekend will take La liga into a fitting climax this year.
For Real Madrid, a point difference might hurt a little. But no one can deny that they are well and truly in the race. A draw in one of the two games for the top two and two straight wins will have Zinedine’s man in all smiles. But unfortunately, they have a relatively tougher fixture than the other two this week. Valencia can spring up with surprises more often and Real Madrid won’t be happy if something of that kind happens. They will obviously want to keep their hopes alive for the last week game.
With the way, La liga had went to the final week, can we expect a dramatic day like the one when Manchester City with Augero spoilt Manchester United’s title with a last minute winner?
