Zenit St Petersburg’s Axel Witsel is the recent player to join the Chinese Super League from a big league. The Belgian was signed by a newly promoted Tianjin Quanjin for a salary that comes around 18 million per year.

His weekly wage will be in par with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo once he starts playing in China. Witsel has snubbed offers from Juventus and Chelsea to join the Chinese club.
The talented midfielder was a regular transfer target for a cluster of teams in England before he decided to move to China. Witsel told that he made the decision to join the Chinese League for his family.

Of the clubs that came close to Witsel, Juventus came the closest. The player himself made a statement about joining Juventus a few months back. Answering a question about that, Witsel told that a lot of things changed after that. He also admitted that the decision to snub Juventus was a tough one for him.

The player added that he will be supporting Juventus in the Champions league.
